The re-entry back to reality is ALWAYS the most bitter sweet part of any vacation. Stripped of afternoon siestas, the luxury of disregarding time – free of appointments, responsibilities, and deadlines. I make sure my only appointments on vacation are to eat!
Actually, I imagine a cold bucket of water straight to the face – kinda feels something like post vacation re-entry. Of course, there is some welcoming comfort in returning back to the normalcy of your routine. Things feel fresh, a tad more exciting than you remember them to be. I personally have a little more pep in my step post vacation.
Somehow, someway I have managed to glamorize the end of my summer vacay! Ok, now back to the negative. The ultimate heartbreaker in being back in the real world – my VERY noticeably absent, daily seaside Greek breakfast. SIGH.
Gone are the fresh figs, cantaloupe, pineapple, and plums. Croissants with fresh Santorini jams and nutella. Greek yogurt with honey, nuts, and berries. Leisurely nibbling in the sun while sipping a Greek Frappe with raw brown sugar.
A far cry from the Latte I drink while zooming to work; usually flustered and reviewing my mental morning to do list.
I definitely didn’t enjoy my American breakfast in a bikini and sarong this morning (a la the Greek way), but that sarong has become my favorite early Fall scarf. And as they lay pretty in the store, I smile thinking of my perfect end of summer vacay.
