Muse...

Jane Birkin has long held the title of style icon. Emerging in the 1960's as one of the leading movie stars of the decade, her effortless beauty has inspired designers throughout the past 50 years.

She was, after all, the inspiration for the world's most coveted handbag.

Rumour has it that while on an AirFrance flight from Paris to London, Jane brought out her Hermes datebook, and all the papers inside fell out onto the floor. She remarked to the gentleman next to her,
"This book should really have pockets!"
It just so happened that she was seated next to Jean-Louis Dumas, the chairman of Hermes. After hearing her complaint, Dumas created the Birkin bag and the rest is history.

We personally love Jane Birkin for inspiring one of our favorite summer pieces by Los Angeles based cult fan favorite designer, Otis & Maclain.

The Birkin short is the perfect classic high waisted short. You can throw them on with just about anything, but we love to wear them with a basic tee tucked in and a flare cardi tossed over. Click on the "shop" button to shop the look!

J'adore!

la femme et de la bicyclette

Summertime is for many wonderful things . Like long days spent at the beach, outdoor music festivals and sweet icey lemonade, some things are synonymous with summer.
Not to be forgotten, a summer essential the world over has always been the girl and her bicycle. Here are a few of our favorites...

And pulled out of last summer's archives...

...another babe and her bike and basket! Also note her other ever-present San Sebastian essentials, the lady & the sailor basic tee and  Soludos!

And lastly, this beach picture. Just because.

Montecito

One of our favorite California destinations is Montecito. We find inspiration just behind every corner in the American Riviera...
Take Madame Ganna Walska, the eccentric Polish performer-come-collector-of-husbands. This fabulous woman spends her days at her 37 acre botanical paradise "Lotusland," cultivating some of the world's most rare flowers and plants, all the while decked to the nines in her incredible jewelry collection.

Oprah also lives just around the corner so Montecito is confirmed fantastic.

Then there is San Ysidro Ranch.

A famous destination for Hollywood couples

Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh were married here,

The Kennedy's took their honeymoon here,

And one of our favorite faces Lily Aldridge, tied the knot with Caleb Folliwill here just this May.

But our favorite thing about San Ysidro? The ribs and the mac & cheese at The Stonehouse restaurant, sit outside for stunning ocean views if you can! Lovely.

If we are dining in, we love to visit Pierre Lafond wine bar and market on San Ysidro road for the most delicious treats like their own label's caramel and oreo popcorn.

Be sure to head downstairs to Wendy Foster to browse the newest delivery from the lady & the sailor, just shipped to them today!
